Though it is unfortunate, many of our OFWs are still experiencing bad treatment from their foreign employers. That is why these OFW rely so much to their employment agencies to extend help when they get in the middle of such troubles. Sadly, some employment agencies do not have so much affection towards their employees.
An example of this disastrous situation is Luzviminda Espiritu. Luzviminda worked in Kuwait as a domestic helper, as suggested by her clothes in her video. She recounted how her employer threatened to inform the Philippine Embassy that she stole money from them so she gets jailed, if in case she tells that she is being physically hurt. The heartless employer also lets her work without pay, which makes her situation even worse. Luzviminda recorded a video to cry for help to get her back to the Philippines. The video was spread by her son, while her daughter Rutchelyn was the one who approached RaffyTulfo. She mentioned how her mother was pushed by her employer just days ago. Rutchelyn added that her mother’s agency told her to just run away from her employer when she asked help from them. They even doubted her when Rutchelyn said that she will ask help from government units just to be able to get her mother back.
In his radio show, Tulfo was able to talk to a representative of the Philippine counterpart of Luzviminda’s agency. According to Luis Carpio of LORAMA Promotions Corp., they are aware of Luzviminda’s situation and he insisted that they have taken necessary measures to rescue Luzviminda. But it was their Kuwait counterpart that should handle the actual rescuing. And right now, there are tons of other rescue cases that are pending, suggesting that they can’t address Luzminida’s case immediately.
Tulfo was quick to reiterate that Luzviminda has been receiving death threats from employer so this should be an urgent case they should attend to. He also added that the Kuwait counterpart is incompetent that Carpio should stop endorsing employees to them. Also to think that there are many pending rescue cases, suggesting that the agencies do not screen their employers thoroughly. Luckily, Carpio responded to the urgency and took action to the case.
As seen towards the end of the video, Luzviminda was able to get back to the Philippines. Tulfo’s show even arranged to bring them to their home for convenience.
