Most Filipino children are disciplined by their parents with corporal punishments especially when they did something wrong. We probably know some parents who have spanked their children one way or another, but we all know when this goes far. We all know what the difference between discipline and abuse, but the woman on this viral video probably did not know about it.
A concerned netizen named Em Ytterp happened to pass by a situation that probably disturbed her. According to her, it was her child who first noticed that a woman was furiously hitting on a child outside of a supermarket in Binakayan, Toclong, Kawit, Cavite. Em recorded it so she will have something to hold on to if in case a complaint should be filed against the woman. She also posted it on Facebook, hoping that the video can reach the authorities, particularly DSWD.
In the video, it can be seen that the woman first hit the child on the head. The girl held her head because of the pain and then she regained her balance by leaning on the wall. A few moments later, the women kicked the child on the hips, which made the child cry louder. The woman did not stop there and kicked the child once again, this time hitting her arm. It wasn’t clear, but the child probably screamed “Mama tama na!”. But it wasn’t effective and the woman let out a couple more kicks. Then that was the time bystanders started to approach the scene to stop the commotion. The video ended there, but Em managed to get closer shots of the woman to see her identity.
According to her updated post, Em mentioned that she was able to meet with the woman in question and the child in the barangay office. This video has reached TV networks already, and they woman was able to air her side. She said that she hit her child because she was so hard headed and did not want to go home to take a bath. The child was also interviewed, and according to her this was the first time her mother ever hit her. Many netizens were not convinced by this, and DSWD will investigate further on this case.
