Some people find it impossible to follow, but they are encouraged to adjust it according to their income and monthly expenses. Because of this, more people are encouraged to save up and come up with the best saving technique that suits them. One of them is Yona Abella and she shared her money saving tip that left many netizens in awe.
Yona says that it demanded extreme self-discipline in order for her money saving technique to actually work. Especially when she considers herself as an impulsive buyer in her younger years. According to her Facebook post, Yona realized that she is getting older and she must think of her responsibilities first and how to get through them. She also emphasized the difference between needs and wants, and that our wants can always wait. She also mentioned that it will be impossible to save if we often take out money from our piggy banks just to get hold of the things that we want and might not really matter.
In 5 months, Yona managed to save a total of 42,300 pesos by saving 50 peso bills. She saved a total of 842 pieces of 50 peso bills in this duration, and her mindset was to treat these bills invisible as soon as it gets in her hand. She showed an example where if she bought something using her 500 peso bill and received 4 pieces of 5 peso bills as change, those 50 peso bills will automatically go to her savings. She will now need to use up the non 50 peso bills as her cash allowance to get her through her expenses.
When she realized that she saved enough money already, she used half of it to pay for their apartment rent, and the other half was deposited to her savings account. Since it turned out successful, Yona might continue to do this money saving technique to help her reach further financial independence.
