Most of us Filipinos are compassionate especially when our elderly asks us for any kind of assistance. This trait has been the target of some criminals and syndicates, and it has been documented by a Facebook user in her recent post.
Facebook user Len Q. Paus shared how she was almost kidnapped by a syndicate. According to what she posted last May 15, 2017, she was walking along 11th Avenue in BGC at around 7:30 in the morning when an oldy lady approached her.
Based on the accompanying photos, the old lady was wearing typical home clothes, suggesting that she might really be financially unstable. Their conversation started with the old lady asking Len if she was a blood donor. Len eagerly answers with a yes and immediately offered to help them contact Red Cross Philippines.
This was because the old lady said that her child suffers from leukemia and that she has been walking for hours trying to find enough blood donors for her child's medication. When asked, the old lady said that her child is confined in Ospital ng Makati and Len should come with here there to get her blood extracted.
Assuming that Len fell for her alibi, the old lady said she will roam around a little more to get more donors. This time, Len lost sight of her and she then contacted her friend from Red Cross to seek help about the blood extraction.
Her friend was willing to help her but eventually grew suspicious about the old lady. Her friend opened about the modus operandi of kidnappers using an old lady as a front. This triggered Len to search for a similar modus and she was surprised at what she found out. The photo of the old lady has been circulating in Facebook since 2015, together with a warning that it was a scam or it can lead to something as worse as kidnapping.
The old lady's script was still the same: her only child confined at OsMak is suffering from leukemia and she needed blood donors to come with her.
The old lady was never seen by Len ever again. Let this post remind everyone of the modus that has been going on for years now, and to stay safe and vigilant against these kinds of people.
LEN Q. PAUS FULL POST
BEWARE! (Uppercase para intense) I posted this to prevent victims and save lives.
Around 7:30am, I met this old woman at 11th Avenue, BGC, Taguig.
Conversation:
Same incident happened before kaya mega research naman kami to confirm.
