Talented people across the globe have been discovered, thanks to reality TV competitions like America’s Got Talent (AGT). In these kinds of contests where anything literally goes, only those who have extraordinary talents can make it to the top. That is why some people develop a whole new set of skills to set them apart from other contestants.
Just like Darci Lynne Farmer, a talented 12-year-old from Oklahoma City. She stepped on stage carrying her puppet, Petunia. She already caught the attention of the elusive judge of the show, Simon Cowell, by giving a glimpse of her ventriloquist performance. In past seasons of the show, there has been a number of ventriloquists who gave remarkable performances. On the other hand, there were also some who failed to stand out from the other performers in their field. However, the audience and the judges seemed to be not prepared to what Darci will showcase.
Darci showed her wit and fun personality during the introduction which the judges found entertaining. She also shared that she joined AGT because it was her lifelong dream to be part of the show and she would “really like to keep ventriloquism alive because it’s not common”. Darci started her performance with a quip, as she pretends surprised upon knowing Petunia is going to sing.
The young ventriloquist left the audience and all four judges in awe of her singing voice. The judges knew how hard it is to speak with the mouth closed in this kind of performance, and so they figured how hard it was to actually sing without opening one’s mouth. However, Darci was able to sing so well that she can still play with some voice tricks. The audience was really in for a show in Darci’s performance!
In the end, Darci received a massive standing ovation from everyone in the theater. She was teary eyed already upon seeing this, saying she could not believe what was happening. The judges’ time to comment came in, and they were all inspired by Darci’s performance. Everything was calm until Mel B. pressed the Golden Button, which made Darcy to be automatically included in the semi-finals. This time, Darci can no longer hold back her tears and her mom accompanied her onstage to celebrate the victorious moment.
